Kettering is a town in East Northamptonshire that has history dating back to Roman times. It hosts Boughton House which is home to the Duke of Buccleuch, one of the largest land owners in the United Kingdom.
Kettering grew greatly in the 19th century when it was prominent in the boot and shoe industry. The development of Kettering, Desborough & Rothwell received impetus when the railway arrived in 1857. It developed steadily in the 20th century and has rapidly grown in terms of population and housing in the last 25 years.
You can find all sorts of property in the town, such as the Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Kettering & Burton Latimer. There are thatched cottages in Grafton Underwood & Brigstock. There is a choice of 1930s semi-detached properties around Bowhill and some very modern detached properties in the post 2000 out of town developments.
New build developments include detached houses in Polwell Lane, Barton Seagrave, where Help to Buy has assisted many home buyers.
Housing varies with traditional Victorian terraced streets, 19th century villa style homes and inter wars semis and detached homes a feature around the town.
There is a wide range of modern estate homes on the outskirts of town.
Commuters choose Kettering as their favoured Northamptonshire home with London St. Pancras less than an hour from the local station.
New homes now feature on the North and Western outskirts of the town, giving great access to the range of leisure features including the Northamptonshire countryside.
